My name is Jessica Lowery and I started and own Vampire Stalkers and Mystic Falls Tours.
How did you get the name 'Vampire Stalkers'?
It's best to start at the beginning and explain a little to you about who we are and why we enjoy what we do. We got our nickname 'Vampire Stalkers' by spending all our free time hanging out on the set of the Vampire Diaries when the show first started. Our close friends and family decided the best way to explain what we were doing was to start telling everyone we were out 'Vampire Stalking' and the name stuck.
It felt great to show people around our beautiful small town and give them little-known details from filming that we learned or experienced from our 'stalking'. The more people we met and gave tours to the more fun it became and our business flourished.
Why do you do what you do?
The best thing in the world we love to experience is when a fan recognizes various locations from the show and can relate them to episodes and iconic scenes. The most recognizable location fans catch a glimpse of as we turn on the square is the Mystic Falls Courthouse and is one of the most exciting moments for fans of the show.
We take such pride in our hometown of Covington, GA being turned into Mystic Falls, VA and it's so much fun to share with all of the Vampire Diaries fans and their love of Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, and Hybrids. Mystic Falls Tours is a family run business that includes Jessica and her daughter, along with a few part-time guides that we have added to our tour family since we started. All of our employees work for the Ian Somerhalder Foundation and are knowledgeable in all things Vampire Diaries related. I have also appeared in many episodes from the first season of TVD as well as being lucky enough to be good friends with many of the cast members. We love sharing our knowledge with fans and hope we give you the ultimate fan experience while here in Mystic Falls. You might recognize us from the many appearances we have made at Vampire Diaries conventions and events as well as the outpouring of love we have received from many news and press outlets. Most recently being featured in a documentary on "Super Fans"
My favorite shoutout was being written about in Crissy Calhoun's book, "Love You to Death" the unofficial companion to Mystic Falls Season 2.
What sets us apart from other tours?
Mystic Falls Tours has EXCLUSIVE access to the Lockwood Mansion. That means we don't stand at the gate and wish we could go in, we take you all the way onto the property and we have amazing photo ops that all TVD fans would die for! Thankfully the homeowners, Benjamin and Ralph, are totally awesome and make time to come out and meet our tour guests sometimes and even spend time talking about their experiences with Vampire Diaries set filming at their residence.
We also have permission from almost every homeowner in town to take you up close and personal for your pictures. Touring with us gives you the best opportunity to experience Mystic Falls and get one-on-one stories and pictures of the sets.
Why stand outside the gate or on the sidewalk of your favorite set when you can stand on the porch with us? Or even better you can pretend to bite your best friend or stake them in the same spot that many cast members were bitten before you.
If you don't remember every scene don't worry. We here at Mystic Falls Tours know every scene and will spend of time reminding you exactly what happened. The cool thing is we tell you not only what you saw on the screen but also what was filmed and hit the cutting room floor.
Thankfully stalking the sets of TVD means we know things you can not learn from anyone else.
From day one the cast of the Vampire Diaries, as well as the writers/producers and the CW have been so great to us. I love talking to the cast about the fans because they get such a kick out of hearing what the fans are excited about and even seeing pictures we take while on our tours. We are highly recommended personally by the cast members even getting shout-outs on twitter from none other than Ian Somerhalder himself!
Does the cast go on the tour?
We have had several TVD cast members join us on the tour before and also say they want to join us in the future on one of our tours. We have also had various set cast and actors visit our store! So you never know maybe one day you will show up for our tour and be joined by a cast member!
Another cool fact is many of the cast follow us on twitter so we love to tweet pictures from the tour so that the cast can enjoy them as well. Tweet us @vampirestalkers
What is your favorite part of the tours?
I think the best part of every tour is when the fans get to reenact scenes! Being the Vampire Stalker and spending so much time on set during actual filming means I know how things were done when the cast shoots certain scenes. Photo opportunities are provided while touring with us so that you will be able to remember this trip for a lifetime! I cannot wait to meet all of you and to see our returning guests as well!
